I AM. Here's my user page:

http://www.nanowrimo.org/eng/user/141095

I'm writing a novel set under a century ahead in the future called Perfect Sleep. I guess it's spec fic? The tones are going to be more psychological thriller, but who knows what'll actually happen. When I started this thing, my main protagonist was supposed to be a girl. Then Kenneth started talking and all my plans got trashed.

Links to user pages, plox! Also, feel free to grouse about how much work it is to do NaNo and all the other stuff we do at the same time.

I'm doing non-fiction though, because I needed some drive on a project. I'm failing miserably though. I think I get why NaNoWriMo is about fiction only, it isn't really possible to go mindless writing on non-fiction. Add to that that I'm writing it in English and I'm pretty much screwed.

I haven't met one wordcount goal, and I've been at home most of the time. Tomorrow I won't have any time at all, and then classes start again. I'm totally panicking already.

I totally understimated 1600 serious english words a day. I'm going down.

I do like my Nano Icon though Tongue

I kinda sorta am: http://www.nanowrimo.org/eng/user/37049

I'm pretty sure Visionary doesn't have 50k words in it, though; my goal is more to get the first draft written, no matter what the word count is.

Here's me!

This is coming out kinda gritty. And it's developing FAST, too. With Space & Time, plot took forEVER to move along. Srsly, 100 pages just to get to the main action. Diving right in on Descendants of Ancients.

I already write close to 50K words a month, on average, not counting the day job (journalism). Couldn't double that. Maybe next year when I'm down to just one weblit.

Couldn't do it at all in a second language - good for you, Jan!

Good on all of you. Write on!

I totally swore off NaNo this year. Wasn't gonna do it. I refused.

And about 7:30 p.m. on the 1st, I started writing and 5,057 words later, I'm on track for Day 3 of NaNo. Go figure. Here's mah userpage:

http://www.nanowrimo.org/eng/user/581046

My story is. Um. I dunno what my story is. I labeled it as fantasy, but it's sort of like a prolonged poem, I guess. My main protagonist, Quill, is as cuddly as a miserable, obsessed, masochistic, self-debasing, semi-suicidal kinda-like-an-angel-thingy (Note: NOT an angel) can be and my supporting cast is made up thus far of two groups, one named after Biblical cities and the other named after Greek/Roman/Hindu minor deities.

It's kind of a rush writing it, especially because it's a first-person piece through Quill's eyes. That poor boy's totally cuckoo, and I think it shows in the deranged rambling sort of voice these 5,000 words have taken.

I'm a NaNoWriMo cheater. I'm working on It's All Relative. Next year, I'll probably start a new story but I need to get this story hammered out, ever since #3D1D, I feel like there's no reason why this story shouldn't be finished by now.

I'm with Najela -- totally working the system, baby! Stick it to the man! Power to the rebels!

http://www.nanowrimo.org//eng/user/553575 <- Basically I'm using NaNo to push forward with my serial. Little story: I've been writing all my life and used to spew words all over the place like a giant, uh, spewing thing. But that all changed in 2003, when depression and some health problems pretty much wracked me up and paralyzed me, mentally speaking. I went four years without writing a word. Since starting again in 2007 (thanks to WeSeWriMo, as a matter of fact!) I found it painful and my insecurity about the 'quality' of my work has been crippling me. I judge and criticize every line in my head. With all the rewriting and angsting, the story just doesn't move forward. Constipation city.

Anyway, to wrap up all this breast-baring, the point is that it seems as if the only way I can get any significant numbers of wordage on the page is to use these WriMos as incentive to force myself out of the "it must be PERFECT" mindset. So by sticking to a 1667 per day goal, which is reachable and not too daunting, I can push myself forward.

So even though I'm not doing a novel, I'm certainly trying to produce a novel-length work, or at least novella-length, thanks to NaNo. If I succeed I'm gonna grab that badge and wear it proudly, for all that it's not strictly a NaNo novel.

I'm doing NaNoWriMo! http://www.nanowrimo.org/eng/user/566011

I wrote about 4000 of a story that just isn't working for me, and I'm REALLY tempted to switch to a new story that I've been thinking about for the past couple years. But isn't that a no-no? If I switch, I'm going to have to write about 7000 words today to catch up. Cheers.

The only hard and fast rule for NaNo is that you have to write 50k words if you want the shinies. Personally, I'd just start on the new project and let the old stuff count towards the 50k. The point is to write, not to get hung up on the rules. =p

Yes. http://www.nanowrimo.org/eng/user/40616

jke236: I started over a week into November in 2007. I could have counted the few thousand words I did on the first novel, but... I didn't. (I still won.)

I say go with the idea that pulls you most. You'll find it easier to live with for a month, and it's certainly not impossible to catch up at this point.

Crap. I was going to say "I'm not doing NaNo and you can't make me!" but now...

SLB currently has no ending. I mostly know what will happen, but have yet to get butt in chair and write it. NaNo may help.

Don't wanna. Which is dumb.

Aargh!

If anybody wants to read Perfect Sleep, get your email address to me and I'll invite you to view the Google Doc. I am telling you this because Char's so excited about the story that she's practically breathing down my neck to pimp it. (I've never written SF before and apparently I am doing it well enough that she wants more.)
